Miscellaneous Greek Tools (Apparatus, Transcription)

A while back I provided some links to a variety of Greek and Hebrew tools. Recently I have been working with various apparatus symbols (e.g., those found at the bottom of NA-28 or UBS-5 for manuscripts) and transcription symbols. I’ve had a hard time tracking down unicode versions of many of these, so I thought I’d compile a short list of some somewhat random Greek-related letters etc. that may be of use to those doing similar work. I don’t claim to be comprehensive, but here goes:

Apparatus symbols

This PDF made by someone else is quite helpful, but for whatever reason (at least on my mac) I rarely get it to work if I copy from the PDF and paste it into Word. Usually it shows up scrambled. So here they are in unicode.

  1. Note that not all characters show up in certain browsers (esp. mobile phones) but should work in Word, Open Office, or something like that. You may need to install a font like SBL BibLit.
